The Commuter and The Festivalgoer

 

Created specifically for the RGA 86th Annual Exhibition "Spring into Action", The Commuter is doing exactly that – springing into action. This character “sprung” into my head while sitting on the bus, watching busy people going to work. I didn’t think I could get the right feel by doing a linocut, so out came the acrylic paints. The bowler hat always reminds me of René Magritte, and that is how the setting for this energetic commuter came about.

A year later and the RGA 87th Annual Exhibition has the title “Hooray Henley!” and this Festivalgoer is ready whatever the weather!
